Bridgett Bird

Sr. Manager, Content Literacy/LDC



Bridgett supports literacy standards implementation across multiple grade levels and contents that allow teachers to help students meet the unique challenges of reading, writing, speaking, and listening in their fields. With a focus on social studies and science classrooms, LDC in DPS provides common modules of study that honor content by using disciplinary literacy strategies in order to deepen students’ understanding of the subject. Working with a variety of stakeholders, Bridgett collaborates to create common structures around literacy to prepare students for college and career readiness. Prior to her LDC position, Bridgett supported teachers through her roles as a Peer Observer and as a literacy coach and coordinator with Collaborative Strategic Reading. She first joined DPS fifteen years ago as a classroom teacher of English language arts. In her spare time, Bridgett loves being with her daughter, reading historical fiction, and binging on Netflix series.

Bridgett earned her principal’s license in 2015 at the University of Colorado, Denver. She holds a B.A. in English and Education and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction. She is currently working towards her Ed.S. in Administrative Leadership and Policy Studies.

Eva Bridgeforth

Content Literacy/ LDC Partner



Eva supports curriculum and instruction that is designed to increase content knowledge via rigorous engagement with complex texts and tasks, including the work of the Literacy Design Collaborative.  Working in collaboration with a wide cadre of educators that ranges from national literacy specialists to individual teachers, Eva helps put best instructional practice into place across the district, with an emphasis on addressing the CCSS across content areas and grade levels.  Prior to her LDC position, Eva was a classroom teacher for 20 years, teaching language arts and math, and also served as an AVID site coordinator and teacher leader. She first joined DPS 20 years ago at Hamilton Middle School.  Eva enjoys spending her free time with her husband and teen children, singing and playing the piano, and reading anything she can get her hands on. 

Eva has a B.F.A. in Music and Theatre, and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Instruction.  She holds a Colorado elementary teacher’s license, and is highly qualified in secondary language arts and mathematics.

Erin Coker

Content Literacy/ LDC Partner

Erin supports teachers with integrating disciplinary literacy into their daily instruction. Erin believes wholeheartedly that teaching literacy skills is an integral component of college and career readiness in the 21st century. Prior to working as a Content Literacy Partner, Erin worked as a literacy coach and science teacher. Erin began her teaching career in education when she was selected to be a Denver Teaching Fellow in 2008. In her spare time, Erin enjoys running, river rafting and spending time with her husband and 3-year-old son.

Erin holds a B.S. in Biology and a M.A. in Instructional Technology. Erin holds a Colorado teaching license in Secondary Science Education.

 Sarah Peterson

Content Literacy/ LDC Partner



Sarah supports teachers with the implementation of Common Core Standards into science and social studies classes. Sarah also assists in writing common LDC modules that are taught throughout the chemistry classes in Denver.  Prior to her role in Content Literacy, Sarah worked as a high school science teacher in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Sarah holds a B.S. in Immunology and Infectious Disease, and she is currently working towards her Master’s in Chemical and Life Sciences

Melissa Seggelke

Content Literacy/ LDC Partner



Melissa supports teachers with leveraging literacy to deepen students’ understanding of content. She also assists in designing common modules that are taught throughout social studies classrooms in DPS. Melissa began her career as a social studies teacher at a Denver middle school. She coached and supported students in blending literacy, inquiry, and personalized learning in creating projects for National History Day.

Melissa holds a B.S. in Social Studies Education and an M.A. in Education with a Specialization in ELL Instruction. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys hiking, chasing around her 1-year old daughter, spending time with her husband, and whipping up her grandma’s Italian recipes.

 Vivian Masket

Content Literacy/LDC Partner



Vivian supports teachers in incorporating literacy instruction into secondary science and social studies classrooms. Prior to becoming a Content Literacy Partner, Vivian supported teachers in Denver Public Schools as a Collaborative Strategic Reading Coach and Social Studies Project Coordinator, and teachers in the greater Los Angeles area through her work as an instructional specialist with the California International Studies Project. She began her career in education as an instructor with the Close Up Foundation in Washington, D.C., and as a high school social studies and language arts teacher in Los Angeles. Vivian enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and creating her next masterpiece in the kitchen.

Vivian has a B.S. in Russian and History, and an M.A. in Education. She is licensed to teach secondary social studies in both Colorado and California.
